Nick Garland was called to FBCBA in October, 1986. The son of a pastor, he has been preaching since he was 19 years of age. "Bro. Nick" is dearly loved by the congregation and is known best for his outstanding teaching and preaching. He displays the true heart of a pastor with a genuine concern for the people of his flock.

  • Education: Graduate of Florence State University, Florence, Alabama, in 1973 with a degree in English. Earned a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1977.
  • Experience: First 15 years of pastorate spent serving in Southern Baptist churches in Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas. Currently Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he has served since October 1986.

 

Denominational, Ministry, and Civic Activities

  • Active in the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma having served on Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Budget Committee, Resolutions Committee, Director of Evangelism Search Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and served on the Christian Life Commission, as well as opportunities to preach at several state conferences and Falls Creek
  • Active in the Southern Baptist Convention serving on Board of Directors for the Home Mission Board, Credentials Committee, Board of Trustees for the Sunday School Board, and served as Chairman of that Board of Trustees for two years. Has preached at Southwestern and Midwestern Seminaries, Ridgecrest, Glorieta, and Green Lake for Sunday School and Music Weeks.
  • Led mission groups to Israel, Thailand, China, Russia, Romania, Alaska, Hawaii, and Nevada.
  • Under his leadership, FBCBA became a Global Focus church in 2001. The church has sponsored missions to the Slavics, Hispanics, Korean and Vietnamese and partnered with works in Timisoara, Romania, Thailand, Vietnam and Arizona.
